Int’l presentations head to Iran kids fair

A lineup of international presentations has been organized to appear on stage at the 24th International Theater Festival for Children and Young Adults in Iran.

Eight countries will join Iran in presenting a total of 48 plays during the children’s festival, which opened in the Iranian city of Hamedan on Thursday.

‘Solo for Two’, a play from Denmark by Giacomo Ravicchio, along with other plays from Italy, Azerbaijan, France, Russia, Germany, South Korea and Turkmenistan will be staged in the international section of the event.

Several workshops will also be available on the sidelines of the event.

Gary Freedman, co-founder of the Glue Society, a group of directors and artists based in Sydney and New York, will head the workshops named ‘Paper World’.

A workshop for theater experts will be helmed by Henning Fangauf, the deputy director of the Children’s and Young People’s Theatre Centre in Frankfurt as well as a jury member of the international section of the festival.

Iranians Hamidreza Naeimi and Ardeshir Salehpur will join Fangauf on the jury panel of the section.

The aim of the festival is to support the artistic works which are created for children and youth, to increase happiness and to educate the next generation of Iranians.

Founded in 1991, the International Theater Festival of Children & Youth was at first held in the Iranian city of Hamedan. Iranian cities of Kerman and Isfahan have also hosted some editions of the event. The Iranian city of Hamedan has been hosting the event again since 2001.

The 24th edition of the International Theater Festival of Children & Youth is slated for November 30-December 6, 2017, in Hamedan, Iran.
